About Us :: Focus Skate Mag
Where We Are Coming From
We started publishing Focus Skateboarding Magazine in 2005, because there was a void in the industry. There were no publications focused (no pun intended) on covering our scene, the East Coast! Furthermore, when magazines did have the ever-rare East Coast coverage, it was never editorial on the smaller guys. They always covered the big names and events, never exposing the raw talent and undergound scene that has been going unheard of for too long. That was our mission, to publish and distribute the highest possible quality magazine we could, shining light on what we see in the streets everyday and give a voice to the underground and underexposed shredders of the East Coast.
While we are life-long skateboarders, we are relatively new to the business side of skateboarding, establishing ourselves as a solid brand for only a little over 4 years. However, being young in this aspect has actually been extremely beneficial for us becuase we have not become set in our ways and are able to approach everything with a fresh look and positive attitude. We have been fortunate to be able observe what has effected skateboarding and our community in both positive and negative ways.
Working closely with shops and brands, we've asked a lot of questions and kept our ears open to suggestions as to what we could do to improve our magazine, our industry as a whole, and the East Coast (North East specifially) skate indusrty.
This brings us to: The Focus Show. Another void needs to be filled. This time, unlike the lacking media coverage void for our region, it's time to breathe new life into the business taking place between shops and the brands they carry.
The Focus Show is designed to maximize sales and conveinience, minmize expenses and headaches, and do it all under a fun and exciting roof.
We have found a great venue, in a great city, in a conveinient location, and have put into place events that besides being fun and exciting will bring more shops out the show, and as you know increasing traffic will help increase your sales.
